Never received the therapy I so desperately

Published Saturday, December 15, 2018

My mother was dying from cancer and I was her caregiver, along with my teenaged daughter, who suffered a psychotic episode and depression. No weekly appointments were available for my daughter, so she was seen at UCSF, with our out-of-pocket costs adding up to thousands of dollars. I went to Kaiser for supportive service and therapy for myself due to the anxiety and stress I was under. When I finally got to see a therapist, she had no appointments available but offered to talk to me during the 10-minute break she had between clients. Or she could put me in a group. The last thing I needed was a group, to worry about all their problems, too. This was a terrible outcome and I never received the therapy I so desperately needed.
