Six-week wait to see any therapist

My 16-year-old was suicidal. I called Kaiser for advice. My daughter wanted to see her therapist from a few months back, but that therapist was not accepting “new” patients. There was a six-week wait to see any therapist. Their only suggestion was to put my daughter on a psychiatric hold. I knew that locking her up and drugging her would be very traumatic, so I waited. Not ideal.
