Refused help after assault

Published Sunday, August 14, 2022

I was assaulted while on a trip to the south in May of 2022. I made an appointment to speak with someone to set me up with a Kaiser therapist to discuss the challenges I was having dealing with the trauma. After a 25 minute question-and-answer meeting with an intake person I was told that since I didn’t have something diagnosable (depression, etc.) they would not set me up with a therapist. It was very frustrating and demoralizing as I’m not someone to typically reach out for help like that and when I did I was basically told they wouldn’t help at all and “good luck with all that.”
