Only two mental health professionals on the entire island

Published Friday, November 4, 2022

I am a new transplant to KP Hawaii, coming from the KP Mid-Atlantic region, which I loved. I am experiencing menopause, depression, an eating disorder, and sleep problems since moving here. I reached out more than two months ago to speak with a mental health professional. I was told that there were only two mental health professionals on the entire island and one was not accepting any new patients. I called the KP member service line to request to see a mental health professional virtually from the Mid-Atlantic region and was told that was not possible. I was advised by the representative to seek help on my own at my own expense.
