Obviously I have no mental health insurance

Published Tuesday, September 21, 2021

I am in crisis. I’m a caregiver to a severely disabled elderly mother and a caregiver to my spouse who has Parkinson’s. My work life has been turned upside down by the pandemic. I am depressed, irritable, and exhausted, and totally in need of some mental health support. After my intake at Kaiser I was told to call Foresight Mental Health, who is an outside contractor. They told me they had no openings in their network. Kaiser then referred me to Beacon Mental Health and I was given lists of their therapists to contact. I called almost all of them, and only two called back to say they had no openings. At that point, after three months of getting the runaround, I contacted an old therapist of mine and I’m seeing her private pay. I can’t afford to see her more than twice a month. I need more than that. Kaiser has failed. Obviously I have no mental health insurance.
