
NUHW celebrates Dolores Huerta, recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom
Dolores Huerta, accompanied by Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis and NUHW President Sal Rosselli at the White HouseCivil rights activist and labor legend Dolores Huerta received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama at the White House today.
Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, who joined the ceremony, commented, “Today, President Obama will honor Dolores Huerta with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for a lifetime dedicated to workers’ rights and social justice. She joins the ranks of other luminaries throughout history, including Cesar Chavez, Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Teresa, who have received this much-deserved honor.”
