Kaiser provided lists of therapists with no availability

Published Thursday, August 25, 2022

I asked for mental health care many times. Each time I was referred out quite unsuccessfully. They referred me to a company that kept sending me therapists that had no availability. In fact; the only mental health professional that was available was a Christian therapist which is fine, but considering I’m not Christian and have bad memories related to Christianity, it was not an option that could lead to improving my mental health. It got to the point where it was weeks upon weeks of getting these lists of therapists with no availability, I just gave up. And I was lucky because my university at the time had counseling (that I paid out of pocket for) which was amazing. Honestly, my mental health wasn’t too awful, but if it was worse I couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened. I feel this system just says no one cares about us or our mental health. I really wish Kaiser would put the effort and care that they do with their general practitioners (mine is amazing!) and other areas of care into mental health.
