Kaiser makes you jump through hoops to access care

Published Thursday, August 4, 2022

Kaiser makes you wait six weeks before they can connect you with a therapist’s office and even then, choosing one and scheduling takes longer. Their network of therapists is very limited and there’s no good way to vet them and decide if they’re the right fit. It’s pretty much luck of the draw. Speaking with your mental health physician is an even bigger challenge. You have to call the main line and talk to a representative who then connects you with another receptionist and then a nurse who will relay a message to the doctor. There should be a more direct line for non urgent mental health services. As patients, I think we understand that the doctor cannot be at our beck and call at all times, but they really make you jump through hoops to access a specific department. Kaiser should consider reassessing their phone system.
