I was billed $600 for an outside visit Kaiser originally approved

Published Sunday, July 31, 2022

I’ve had yearly renewals to an outside doctor as Kaiser is overloaded with patients. Last year they denied me the referral to the facility I’d been approved for care. I had already had my appointment with my doctor and I was told he was still on the list of their approved doctors for me to see. Then I got several calls from outsourced companies wanting to make an appointment for me. I said I already had an appointment. The day before my appointment I was told I could not go see my doctor because they were not on “their list.” I reminded them they had said he was. I told them I was going to be out of medication and needed my appointment, so they said they’d get back to me. They didn’t call me back until after my appointment and said I wasn’t allowed to go to the appointment and they would not cover the visit I’d had. Now they’re billing me around $600 for the visit they originally said I could keep.
