I have at least 12 new patients who couldn’t get care from Kaiser

Published Thursday, September 29, 2022

As an LCSW in private practice in California, I have taken on at least a 12 new clients with Kaiser as their primary insurance over the last three months. These clients attempted to receive care at Kaiser but were given the runaround or redirected to inappropriate treatment modalities(group or substance abuse treatment). These clients were unable to receive appropriate care through Kaiser and chose to pursue treatment outside of Kaiser’s inadequate treatment options OR they would’ve decompensated and/or symptoms worsened. Two clients came to me with acute and severe symptoms that were communicated with Kaiser representatives and Kaiser still could not schedule them in a timely manner OR provide them with adequate resources(other then attending a group facilitated online).
