Filed a complaint with Kaiser and DHCS after months waiting for appointment
Published Sunday, August 28, 2022Over the span of months, I requested talk therapy services with a dire need as my father was arrested for being a child predator (with me as a victim). It took months to get a therapy appointment – by that time, my psychiatrist had referred me to an outside outpatient hospitalization program. After filing a complaint with Kaiser, I finally got an appointment and hoped it would lead to continuing care. Following the appointment, I was offered a 30-minute followup but the therapist never showed up after I waited 27 minutes. The same therapist had referred me to a Kaiser class program that I was not eligible for as she had not scheduled me in months. After I complained directly to DHCS, I was finally referred out – that process took multiple attempts where I had to contact the referral department.
