Social workers win big raises at Good Samaritan campus
After two-years of difficult bargaining, licensed clinical social workers at Good Samaritan’s Mission Oaks campus in Los Gatos have unanimously ratified their first contract.
The 3-year agreement addresses the biggest issue faced by workers at the HCA-owned hospital: low wages that resulted in high turnover. NUHW members will receive raises ranging from 19 to 54 percent over the next three years. They also maintained their current benefits and now have seniority protection
“This contract is long overdue, but it’s worth it,” said Julee Ogawa, an outpatient mental health therapist. “In order to provide the best possible care, we needed competitive wages to keep people from leaving, and that’s what we accomplished.”
