NUHW calls on L.A. City Councilmembers to resign
NUHW members are outraged by the racist and homophobic remarks that were disclosed last Sunday in a recorded conversation among Los Angeles Councilmembers Nury Martinez, Kevin de León, and Gil Cedillo, and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera.
We call on Councilmembers de León and Cedillo to follow Ms. Martinez and Mr. Herrera in immediately resigning their positions so that all Angelenos can have faith that their city leaders are acting in the best interests of everyone in the city.
NUHW members work hard to elect candidates who will advocate for all working people regardless of race, religion, gender, national origin, or sexual orientation. Pitting Brown workers against Black workers doesn’t make anyone stronger except for the bosses. Racism and homophobia have no place in our struggle, and we stand with those who fight for justice for all working people.
