In June, NUHW members picketed Keck–USC hospitals and clinics, won strong contracts at Sutter Health and MarinHealth Medical Center, organized to make Kaiser Permanente recognize Juneteenth as a paid holiday, and welcomed new members at Mission Neighborhood Health Center in San Francisco.

NUHW to host California Governor Forum
The four top announced candidates to become California’s next governor — in 2026 — will share the stage for the first time on September 29 at NUHW’s 2024 Leadership Conference. NUHW this month announced the upcoming candidate forum, which will be moderated by the Associated Press’ Lisa Matthews, and include the following candidates: Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni G. Atkins, Lieutenant Governor and Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, and former State Controller Betty Yee. Learn more about the event here.



State Legislature honors NUHW’s Sal Rosselli as LGBTQ icon

Social Worker podcast interviews NUHW leader
Ilana Marcucci-Morris, a licensed clinical social worker for Kaiser Permanente and an NUHW executive board member, was a guest this month on the Social Workers, Rise podcast. During the 43-minute interview Ilana talked about her advocacy work with NUHW, the 2022 Kaiser strike, and what our union is doing to advance parity for mental healthcare.
