This course provides an in-depth exploration of mental health parity laws and professional ethics within the context of our current healthcare system. Participants will examine the evolution of mental health parity legislation in California, its implications for healthcare delivery, and the ethical and legal obligations on the part of the clinician to advocate for patients. By the end of this course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of mental health parity laws, ethical principles in mental health practice, and strategies for navigating the complexities of providing equitable and ethical mental health services in today’s healthcare landscape. Instructional Methods: Lecture with slides, large and small group discussion, case study review.
