Workers at George Mee Hospital vote to join NUHW

NewsNovember 17, 2012

We have good news for healthcare workers this morning!

Last night, by a vote of 129 for NUHW to 126 for “No Union,” nearly 300 of us at George Mee Hospital in King City, California voted to organize our union with the National Union of Healthcare Workers.

That vote result, combined with 4 challenged ballots, means that we won’t know the final outcome of our election until the challenged ballots are resolved.

However, the initial outcome is clear. Despite our employer engaging in a last minute campaign to dissuade from organizing a union, including hiring union-busting consultants to intimidate us, we held firm and voted to organize with NUHW at our hospital.

We are so proud to have taken this step together, and we look forward to joining thousands of healthcare workers united in NUHW.

Sincerely,

Miguel Villareal, Application Tech, IT Dept, George Mee Memorial Hospital
