We ratified our NUHW contract at Providence Tarzana by a margin of 98%

NewsDecember 29, 2011

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I want to pass on some very good news

We ratified our NUHW contract at Providence Tarzana Medical Center by a margin of 98%.

This holiday season, we will celebrate with our families knowing that, united in NUHW, we’ve won yearly 2% raises for three years beginning next month, maintained our ban on subcontracting and improved our retirement package, all in the face of our employer losing $80 million in the previous three years.

In contrast, SEIU, which represents RNs at our hospital, gave away subcontracting to our employer, agreed to a three-year wage freeze for employees already at scale and failed to win the job security provisions we bargained with NUHW.

That’s nothing new.

At Catholic Healthcare West, SEIU gave away workers’ defined benefit pension, costing nearly 13,000 California healthcare workers almost $217 million dollars.

On behalf of NUHW and our healthcare workers’ movement for democracy, quality patient care and a stronger voice at work, we want to wish you and yours a happy and safe holidays.

Sincerely,Gray
