On Sunday, October 8, at least two leading U.S. Senate candidates will be participating in a forum at our Leadership Conference, and every NUHW member will have the opportunity to watch and decide who our union should endorse.

Congresswomen Barbara Lee of Oakland and Katie Porter of Orange County will be taking questions from NUHW stewards and a panel of journalists on the last day of our Leadership Conference in Los Angeles. The 90-minute forum, co-sponsored by Courage California and Roll Call, will be moderated by Lisa Matthews, U.S. planning editor for the Associated Press and former president of the National Press Club, and will feature questions from NUHW stewards and a panel of distinguished journalists on subjects including labor, health care, and mental health parity. Congressman Adam Schiff has also been invited but has not yet committed to participate.

The event will be streamed live in English and Spanish on Roll Call’s YouTube channel starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 8.

After the forum concludes, all NUHW members will have the opportunity to vote for who our union will endorse to replace Senator Dianne Feinstein in the U.S. Senate representing California. Voting will last for more than 48 hours, during which time the recording of the forum will be available for viewing.
