NUHW members participate in dietitian conference
NUHW has a strong presence at the California Dietetic Association’s annual conference at the Riverside Convention Center from April 11 to 13.
With approximately 500 registered dietitians in attendance, NUHW members Karen Garcia, Erin Lehman and Turusew Gedebu-Wilson had a booth where they raised awareness about our accomplishments and discussed the benefits of organizing for better wages, benefits and working conditions.
The dietitian profession is mostly unorganized, and NUHW was the only union participating in the conference. Many conference attendees stopped by the booth and asked questions of NUHW members.
“It was a great opportunity to showcase what our union is all about,” said Gedebu-Wilson, a registered dietitian at Kaiser Permanente and vice president of NUHW’s Health Care Professional Chapter. “I’m excited to participate again next year.”
