NUHW members attend Bernie Sanders rally and star in campaign video
More than 20 NUHW members attended the Bernie Sanders President’s Day rally in Richmond as invited guests on February 17.
NUHW members were invited to go up on stage and stand behind Bernie as he addressed the crowd. Six people accepted, and could be seen in their red NUHW shirts, in televised news coverage of the rally.
At the end of the rally, Sanders turned around, saw NUHW shirts, and then reached over two rows of attendees to shake hands with one of our members who’d come all the way from Napa to feel the Bern!
“It was a big thrill to be at such a large rally and meet Senator Sanders,” said Juana Marinez, a housekeeper at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.
With early voting already underway in the California Primary, Sanders also released a campaign video about PG&E that included interviews with NUHW members whose patients and communities were impacted by recent wildfires.
NUHW members endorsed Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren for president last year. Several members are volunteering for both candidates in advance of the March 2 Primary election.
