NUHW E-board recommends all members take COVID-19 vaccine
NUHW’s member-led Executive Board this month voted to recommend that all NUHW members take the vaccine, unless there is a medical reason not to do so.
To help answer any questions about the vaccine and its rollout during the upcoming months, NUHW has prepared this extensive Q&A that will be continually updated as new information becomes available.
Many NUHW members have already taken their first dose of the vaccine, and many more should be able to be vaccinated shortly. With California now surging past 2 million COVID-19 cases and ICU stretched beyond capacity across much of the state, it’s critical that people embrace getting vaccinated.
“Healthcare workers have never been more respected and your actions now have the power to influence millions of people who haven’t decided whether or not to get vaccinated when the opportunity becomes available,” NUHW President Sal Rosselli said. “By taking the vaccine and showing that it’s safe, you will not only be protecting your own life, you could save countless more lives, including those of your friends and loved ones.
“This vaccine could not have come at a more crucial time,” Rosselli added. “On behalf of your elected colleagues on the NUHW Board of Directors, we urge you to take it, and we will continue fighting to make sure you can receive it as quickly as possible. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. But it’s a very long tunnel.”
