Sen. Bernie Sanders blasted the effort to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom. He tweeted: “Right-wing Republicans in CA are trying to recall @GavinNewsom for the crime of telling people to wear masks and for listening to scientists during COVID. Extremist Republicans have done enough to undermine democracy already. We must all unite to oppose the recall in California.”
Labor icon Dolores Huerta has joined up with NUHW to oppose the recall of Governor Newsom. “We can’t forget how the last recall brought us a governor who used ballot measures to attack the rights of workers and vetoed efforts to establish universal health care for all Californians,” Huerta said.
Asian Americans reported nearly 3,800 hate-related incidents during the pandemic, a number that experts believe to be just a fraction of the true total. From March 2020 to February 2021, Asian Americans from all 50 states experienced everything ranging from verbal abuse to physical assaults, from getting coughed on to getting denied services because of their ethnicity, according to a report released on Tuesday by Stop AAPI Hate, a not-for-profit coalition tracking incidents of violence, discrimination and harassment.
