Ken Rogers is a psychologist at Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove.
What inspired you to pursue a career in behavioral health?
I was inspired to get into the mental health field because I wanted do something that would help people improve every aspect of their lives. I recognized at an early age that if we are not able to address mental health concerns, no amount of material success can enable people to live happier lives. I always wanted care to be available to those who need it not just those who could afford it.
How has being in NUHW helped you in your profession?
How we work, play, connect with our families and faith all depend on our ability to have access to quality mental health care. Being in NUHW has enabled countless people receive care that they might not have otherwise received by encouraging the hiring of thousands of employees beyond the plan of my medical center employer. I can’t imagine the ability to provide the right access of care to patients being possible without NUHW.
