Kaiser professional workers overwhelmingly ratify new contract
More than 400 professional workers including registered dietitians, audiologists, health educators, and speech pathologists overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new contract with Kaiser.
The three-year contract includes a three percent raise retroactive to last October followed by two percent raises with additional two percent lump sum pay increases this year and next year. The agreement also provides annual performance bonuses of up to $3,000 over the next three years.
The methodology for determining a worker’s performance bonus remains unchanged in the contract, unlike the recently settled contract for the Alliance unions, which quietly agreed that employees will have to cut costs associated with their employment to be eligible for future payouts of the performance bonus.
‘We’re proud of what we accomplished with this contract,” said Turusew Gedebu-Wilson, a Registered Dietitian and a member of the bargaining committee. “We received clear instructions from our colleagues to get the best contract possible and move us in a direction to working more constructively with Kaiser, and we’ve done that with this agreement.”
