Kaiser Permanente faces limited strike Thursday
About 10 health care workers from the Kaiser Permanente medical office in Napa will join the picket lines Thursday in Vallejo to protest cuts in their health and retirement benefits.
About 4,000 members of the National Union of Healthcare Workers at Kaiser will be protesting across the state in one- to three-day strikes. In Northern California, about 1,500 mental health professionals and optical workers will walk off the job for 24 hours beginning at 6 a.m., the union said.
They will be joined by about 17,000 registered nurses from the California Nurses Association and 2,000 stationary engineers at Kaiser who will be striking in sympathy, the National Union of Healthcare Workers said.
