January 2025 PULSE

PulseJanuary 31, 2025

In January, NUHW members at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles took time off from their strike lines to help with wildfire relief efforts. The behavioral health workers are now in the fourth month of an open-ended strike; below is a website where you can donate to their hardship fund. Also in November, NUHW members at Providence San Pedro Medical Center and two USC hospitals won contracts with big raises for most workers, members at Aspen nursing homes united to win mid-contract raises, and members at the Sequoias – Portola Valley retirement community won raises in a new two-year contract.

You can read all the stories below, including an update on our Organizer-in-Training Program and a profile of member Veronica Gonzalez-Morales, a physical therapy assistant at Providence San Pedro.
