I pay $280/month for a therapy app because they consistently have someone to talk to

Published Wednesday, August 17, 2022

A few years ago I was having extreme anxiety and needed to see an advisor, who told me I was stressed and needed retail therapy and to stop worrying. Fast forward to today, I called Kaiser to schedule a mental health appointment and they have never called me back. I don’t want to jump through hoops for care, and upon telling my neighbor about it I found she experienced something similar, except they did call her back and she heavily disliked the mental health therapist they assigned to her so she stopped going. I pay $280/month for a separate talk therapy app now because at least they are consistent to talk to someone. I did not bring this up to my doctor at Kaiser because it shouldn’t be so hard in the first place, so I am sticking with the service that made it easy for me. I can’t afford it though, so Iā€™m going on their $70/month service and fear I will have to reach out to Kaiser again. Feels like I am fighting to be noticed when already stressed.
