Fresno Bee: Kaiser Fresno workers vote to join union
Kaiser mental health professionals and optical workers voted Wednesday to join the National Union of Healthcare Workers.
The election involved 1,500 Kaiser workers in Northern California, including 48 in Fresno.
NUHW was started last year by former Service Employees International Union leaders ousted by the larger union in a power struggle.
About 1,000 Fresno Kaiser workers voted to stay with the SEIU last month in the nation’s biggest private-sector union election since 1941.
It affected 43,000 workers.
