Day 3: Kaiser mental health strike

NewsAugust 17, 2022

We had another great day of picketing in Fresno, Richmond, Roseville, San Leandro, San Rafael, Santa Clara, South San Francisco, Stockton, Vallejo, and Walnut Creek. Photos and can be found below and fresh news coverage, including stories by SFGate, Sacramento Bee and KQED, can be found here.

Help document Kaiser’s failure to provide timely care

We need to help document Kaiser’s failure to provide timely care. If you have evidence of illegally delayed care or mass cancellations during the strike (for instance, evidence from non-NUHW Kaiser employees who are still working), please send that information to research@nuhw.org.

Join us Friday for a march and rally in Oakland

It’s important to show our strength and resolve as the first week of our strike comes to an end. Rather than fanning out to several picket lines, we’re coming together in Oakland for a march and rally with community allies, Kaiser patients and political leaders.

The march will begin at 10:45 a.m. outside the Oakland Medical Center at 3600 Broadway. We’ll march to the Ordway Building, 1 Kaiser Plaza for a noontime rally.

For people in the Sacramento region, there will be a chartered bus to Oakland leaving at 7 a.m. from the Mace Park n Ride Lot, 2629 Co Rd 32A, Davis.

Financial support

For anyone needing financial support to sustain the strike, please contact tempinfo@nuhw.org. We can discuss a number of options, including possible temporary per diem work with behavioral health practices we’ve reached out to.

Thursday picket lines

Thursday’s picket lines will be outside medical centers in Fresno, Redwood City, San Jose, San Leandro, San Rafael, Santa Clara, South Sacramento, Stockton, Vacaville, and Walnut Creek. You can see the full list of scheduled picket lines through August 26 here.
