CA Prop 30 wins and anti-union Prop 32 is defeated as labor movement drives broad victories

Workers celebrated broad victories across California and the nation today as union members drove turnout and participation in elections in every region of the nation.

Two of the NUHW’s E-Board’s endorsed positions won the day in California.  First, billionaire-sponsored California Proposition 32 was defeated handily at the polls, protecting workers’ right to take collective political action through their unions, and Governor Brown’s Proposition 30 passed with strong support from unions, providing vital funding for the State of California.

NUHW Executive Board-endorsed Proposition 37, calling for the labelling of genetically-modified foods, narrowly lost, but, in the process, educated the public about this growing and important public health issue.
