Baldemar Velasquez

The injustices and abuses he saw in the field as the son of a farmworker family in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas who every year migrated to the Midwest following the harvests, led Baldemar Velasquez to found the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) with his father in 1967. In 1978, FLOC became the first union to negotiate a multi-party collective bargaining agreement with Campbell Soup and its grower associations following the largest agricultural labor strike in the Midwest, and the first to represent H2A international guestworkers under a labor contract.
Las injusticias y abusos que vio en el campo como hijo de una familia de trabajadores campesinos en el Valle del Río Grande de Texas que cada año emigraba al Medio Oeste siguiendo las cosechas, llevaron a Baldemar Velásquez a fundar el Comité Organizador de Trabajadores Agrícolas (FLOC) con su padre en 1967. En 1978, FLOC se convirtió en el primer sindicato en negociar un acuerdo de negociación colectiva de múltiples partes con Campbell Soup y sus asociaciones de productores luego de la huelga laboral agrícola más grande en el Medio Oeste.
