How to submit documents
If you have documents you’d like to share with NUHW regarding Kaiser’s practices, you can confidentially connect with us via U.S. mail, email, or phone. If you’d like to keep your communications anonymous, below are suggestions.
• U.S. Mail: U.S. mail may be the most secure way to share information. You can send information to the address noted below, including photos, documents, USB drives, or DVDs. Don’t include anything in the package, contents or on the envelope that could identify you.
• Email: To send information via e-mail, create a new email account and use a public Wi-Fi connection (e.g. at a public library or coffee shop) to send your communications. Remove the metadata from the files before you send them. (See note note below.)
• Phone: Calling our office is another way to share your communications.
• Remove metadata from documents: Many electronic documents, including PDFs, images, and Microsoft Office documents, contain metadata. Metadata often indicates the date, location, and software used to create electronic records. For PDFs and Microsoft Office documents (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), you can remove metadata by [INSTRUCTIONS Click x, then y, then “Remove Properties” etc]
You can also use software to remove the metadata before sending documents to us. A more secure way is print a copy of the documents and then rescan them before submitting to us. If you do so, be sure to shred your printout and not leave traces in your printer’s/scanner’s memory.
