We defeated SEIU at Children’s Hospital Oakland

Children's Hospital OaklandAugust 18, 2011

Brothers and Sisters:

Last night, after more than 900 days of SEIU’s delays, we defeated SEIU at Children’s Hospital Oakland by a margin of 163 votes for NUHW to 159 votes for SEIU. We are so proud of our victory

Children's Victory

After SEIU bargained healthcare takeaways, weakened seniority and job security provisions in our contract and locked in a two-year wage freeze, we knew that the only way for us to win the contract and workplace standards that we deserve was for us to unite in NUHW

On August 5, nearly 100 workers at Kindred Hospital San Leandro were certified members of NUHW.

And just yesterday, the labor board in Washington, D.C. rejected SEIU’s frivolous complaints and ordered that 800 workers at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco be certified as members of NUHW.

After more than two and one half years of SEIU’s delays at Children’s we held firm. We are so proud to have won our union, NUHW. [Leaflet]

Sincerely,
